Céntricamente ubicado en el caserío, una iglesia clásica en forma de sala. Houtem recibió muy temprano una capilla propia gracias a la abadía de Ter Kameren, situada en el camino a Vilvoorde, como se puede ver en el Libro de Mapas de la abadía de 1719. En 1775 se construyó una nueva capilla, la iglesia actual, durante la gestión de la abadesa Serafina Snoy, cuyo escudo se conserva sobre la entrada del coro.
