Het was een primeur: Noorderkroon-Achel kwam als allereerte Belgische vereniging op de proppen met een heus planetenpad. Alles netjes uitgerekend en op schaal uitgezet.
De allereerste uitvoering waren panelen met plexiglas, daartussen kunstig getekende planeten. We hebben het geluk een heel vaardig en kunstig tekenaar in ons midden te hebben. Job Beeren heeft al drie maal het hele planetenpad getekend en geschilderd. Tweemaal hebben we het ganse Planetenpad moeten herstellen vanwege vandalisme. Momenteel bestaan de panelen uit slagvast kunststof. De Technische Dienst van het Stadbestuur Hamont-Achel heeft alle hemellichamen uitgefreest en Job Beeren heeft de afbeeldingen zo realistisch mogelijk ingekleurd met speciale lakken. De laatste uitvoering is een schot in de roos; heel mooi geschilderde panelen die practisch onderhoudsvrij zijn.
