La chiesa fu costruita nei primi anni del XVII secolo per conto dei Cavalieri Gerusalemme, conosciuti anche come Compagnia dei Diecimila Martiri.
L'attuale struttura si presenta con una facciata semplice e i motivi decorativi ricordano i temi del martirio, come le palme e l'alloro. Al centro della struttura si trova un medaglione in stucco contenente Sant'Acacio e i suoi 9.000 soldati che, insieme ad altri 1.000 pagani, furono torturati dall'imperatore romano perché la loro conversione al cristianesimo era considerata tradimento.
La struttura è attualmente (2023) abbandonata.
