Het museum is gehuisvest in een oud gebouw dat dateert uit de 14e eeuw.
De tentoonstelling toont een verscheidenheid aan artefacten van Helleense (uit de nabijgelegen kolonie Himera) en Romeinse oorsprong, waaronder een opmerkelijke reeks marmeren beelden. Het historisch-artistieke luik bevat enkele waardevolle werken, waaronder een vijftiende-eeuws veelluik van Gaspare da Pesaro en een Annunciatie op hout uit de Vlaamse school.
Een gedeelte gewijd aan de 19e eeuw van Termita en twee kamers met het werk van de plaatselijke beeldhouwer Filippo Sgarlata zijn onlangs geopend. De rondleiding wordt gecompleteerd door de mineralogische en malacologische collecties en een kapel met fresco's uit de 15e eeuw.
