This is where Cassandra was beheaded. Cassandra is a figure from Greek mythology: she was a Trojan princess who was given the gift of foretelling by the god Apollo, but was also cursed so that no one would believe her predictions.
After the fall of Troy, she was taken as spoils of war to Mycenae, Agamemnon's kingdom in Greece.
Cassandra warned Agamemnon of his impending death, but, as always, she was not believed. Agamemnon was killed with axe blows by his wife Clytemnestra in the bath, and shortly afterward, Cassandra was also beheaded by Clytemnestra with the same axe.
Clytemnestra murdered Agamemnon primarily out of revenge for the sacrifice of their daughter Iphigeneia, and because of her adulterous relationship with Aegisthus, with whom she wanted to seize power over the kingdom.
Agamemnon sacrificed their daughter Iphigeneia to obtain a favorable wind from the goddess Artemis so that he could sail his fleet to Troy.
