Vierves after Rocroi (2)

From Vierves to Rocroi via the GR 12:
This stage starts with a very steep ascent from Vierves. Once you reach the top, you walk on a very good path through a beautiful forest towards Oignies. This is the last supply point before Rocroi. Once you leave Oignies, you remain in the vast forest until you reach the border. Be cautious: the forestry workers pay little to no attention to hikers. Where they have worked, the path is sometimes blocked by large branches. Near the border, the GR runs through a sunken path. This section was impassable in many places because the forestry workers did not clean up after their work... Just before the border, you begin to see the proximity of settlements through clearings, avenues, ditches... We cross the border via a narrower path before reaching the main road (N5). This N5 will become the future highway Charleroi - Couvin - Rocroi towards Reims (via A304). Intensive work is being carried out, and those who take a trip through the region sometimes have the unpleasant realization that the path they intended to take is interrupted by this work (2015 - 2016). This is the case, for example, between Couvin and Petigny. By the way, the N5 barely had crossing opportunities even as a fast road.
From the border, the landscape changes drastically. The forests are behind us. Once we cross the D986, we find ourselves in the area of the fortified town of Rocroi. Unfortunately, some beautiful paths to the city are quite thoughtlessly closed off.
