Wat Khae, or the Monastery of the Trumpet Tree, is an active temple situated off Ayutthaya's city island, in the northern area, in the Hua Ro Sub-district. The temple is located on an islet called Ko Loi and stands opposite the mouth of the Lopburi River.
Wat Monthop was southwest, and Wat Saphan Kluea was southeast of Wat Khae. Wat Maha Lok stood west opposite the waterway leading to the Front Palace and the Pa Sak River.
In situ are classic monastic structures such as the ordination hall, bell tower, monk's dwellings, and others. The ubosot was built in the Rattanakosin style.
There are no traces of old structures on the premises, and its historical background and period of construction are unknown.
