Aghios Pavlos Mountain

Source: Pascal Brackman

This hill is not very high (just above 100m) but quite remarkable. It is named after the small chapel Aghios Pavlos. But I like to call it "Dragon Hill" because of its peculiar spicky shape. The top of the isolated cone is marked with spicky rocks which is typical for the igneous (volcanic) rocks in the SW of Limnos. My guess is that it is dacite (based on the grey color), a typical extrusive volcanic rock you can find in this area. These rocks date from about 20 million years ago. A local source informed me that the complete hill was bought by a family from Limnos.
