Did you know that there were plans in the 19th century to fill the acropolis with the iconic buildings that are now built on the street or near the Panepistmio, such as the Vallianeio Megaron, the Academy of Athens and the museum. The former king of German origin put a stop to the plans of the architects. They should keep that sacred acropolis as it was. And so it happened. Their neo-classical buildings thus found a place near Panepistmio and Syntagama.
