Ost-Berlin, auch Ostberlin oder Berlin , ist eine Bezeichnung für den Teil Groß-Berlins, der nach der Besetzung der Stadt im Jahr 1945 durch die Siegermächte des Zweiten Weltkriegs bis 1990 den sowjetischen Sektor bildete.
Nachdem die Rote Armee der Sowjetunion nach der Schlacht um Berlin das gesamte Gebiet Berlins erobert hatte, zog sie sich aufgrund der Beschlüsse der Konferenz von Jalta im Sommer 1945 aus den westlichen der daraus konstituierten Sektoren zurück.
