The mill, which originally stood in Houtgrave near Bruges, was bought in 1980 by Etienne Van Hoe. He wanted to tear it down and rebuild it in the Huisepontweg in Wannegem-Lede, right in front of his home.
The name "Schietsjampettermolen" comes from the events during the transport of the mill. After all, houtgrave's ranger did not want the mill to move. He shot up to 2 times in the air to stop the transport.
