St. Martin's Church

The Sint-Martinuskerk is a church building in Genoelselderen in the Belgian municipality of Riemst in Limburg. The church stands in the middle of a walled cemetery on the Onze-Lieve-Vrouwstraat.
The brick building has a front west tower with two sections, a three-aisled nave with three bays, a transept and a choir with two straight bays and three-sided closure. The sacristy is built against the south side of the choir. The church building also has marlstone corner blocks, round-arched windows and slightly pointed-arched windows in profiled marlstone framing. The bays are marked with buttresses that have marlstone corner blocks. The tower has a reverberation hole on each side in the upper articulation and a constricted needle spire at the top. On the rest of the church building there are gable roofs and lectern roofs. The separation between the central aisle and the aisles is formed by round-arched arcades on pillars with naïve Ionic capitals. The ceilings of the church are cross rib vaults with a double star vault above the choir. The vaulting of the ground floor of the tower still has elements of the original Romanesque tower in the form of sculptural corbels with mask heads and monster representations.
