Monument to Europe (temporary set-up)

In their introduction to the 'European Constitution in Verse', David Van Reybrouck and Peter Vermeersch wrote: "In Greek mythology, Europa was the daughter of a Phoenician monarch who was chess by the supreme god Zeus and brought to Crete. It started from the outside: Phoenicia is known today as Lebanon and Syria. The Belgian sculptor Koenraad Tinel turned the abduction of Europe into a monumental sculpture in sheet steel. It's eight meters high and almost nine meters long. It is proud and enchanting. We couldn't have asked for a better emblem for this Constitution."
