The monotonous pine stands are systematically transformed into a mixed hardwood forest. This usually happens naturally. When thinning the forest, the forester ensures that young deciduous trees receive more light. Young oak trees take their place in the forest. Where necessary, additional plants are planted. This variation in the forest results in a higher species richness, i.e. biodiversity.
