The domain around the pond 'De Blankaart', which was created by extracting peat, is a shelter, hunting, wintering and breeding ground for rare birds. This recognized nature reserve with its castle park, which was created in the last century, is definitely worth a visit.
A walk through the park or the nearby IJzerbroeken, via the Blankaart hiking trail (9.6 km), is an educational and refreshing experience! For bird watching, stop at one of the birdwatching huts. Before your walk, be sure to visit the visitor center De Blankaart.
The best thing is undoubtedly a trip with the whisper boat (from April 15 to September 15). Explore all corners of the Blankaart Swamp with the silent boat without disturbing the animals on the banks. That's pure magic.
