A remarkable walking route in the Lys region, because the route of this walking route runs completely along.... the Scheldt. We are close to Ghent, where Lys and Scheldt merge. The Doornhammeke is an old meander of the Scheldt, best known as fishing water and nature reserve. We also walk through the stately lane of Welden Castle and see the traces of the former baking stone production along the way. The beautiful village of Zevergem, starting point of the Doornhammekeroute, is one of the oldest riparian villages along the Scheldt.
