Preliminary some characteristics of this loop 'Zemst-Laar'':
Loop data:
distance = 11,4km
distance unpaved =7km
Distance paved (e.g. Dolomite) = 1,8km
distance asphalt e.d.m. = 2,6km

Part outside the borough of Hofstade:
distance =1,6km (2 pieces in Hombeek = 1,6km
distance unpaved =0,7km
distance paved (e.g. dolomite) = 0,3km
distance asphalt e.d.m. = 0,6km

I Zemst-Laar are still many unpaved paths to be found, which is characteristic of its rural character.

This loop around Zemst-Laar aims at a slow-road walk along 2 bridges that are in the article of "De Zemstenaar" of June 2014: 'Zemst bouwr Bruggen'. The article here mentions a crossing over the Kesterbeek (footpath 104) that was recently festively commissioned; and a non-existent bridge over the Larebeek, a stream that defines the border with Hombeek. In the past, footpath 110 ran over the Larebeek from Zemst-Laar (Bos van Aa) to Hombeek (Dukestraat). This bridge fell into disrepair over time, was demolished, and the surrounding farmers in Hombeek closed this wg for grazing cows and arable farming.

This loop goes past these 2 locations. Since there is currently no bridge on the Larebeek, you have to jump over the stream or wade through it. You also have to climb over a gate twice, and a short bit through some dorens. A unique experience to have with the kids or if you are an adventurer!

See all POIs that include current photos of the loop.

Via the 'Download function' you can download the GPX; either view the loop on a topomap or current road map or Google Earth photo map.

An adventurous walk through unknown parts of Zemst-Laar (and Hombeek)

Departure and arrival point is at the new water treatment plant on the Humbeeksebaan (south south Kollintenbos) - there is parking there-.

Have fun in a piece of unknown nature!
