Berlin’s new film museum is spread out on three floors of the Sony Center, a futuristic complex designed by Helmut Jahn, the German-American celebrity architect. The exhibition takes you through 100 years of (mostly German) film history, though the focus is clearly on that golden pre-war era when Berlin film-making came close to challenging Hollywood.
Filmmuseum Berlin is one of six film museums in Germany. It opened in 2000 as part of the Deutschen Kinemathek – Museum für Film und Fernsehen, German Film Archive - Museum for Film and Television.
