This small, privately run museum gives a feeling of ordinary life under communism. Once Germany was reunified in 1990, most East Germans couldn’t replace their old furniture, unfashionable clothing and outdated household goods fast enough. Some, however, just couldn’t bear to throw away their memories. Thanks to these nostalgic types, this museum, the only one in the country to depict everyday German life behind the Iron Curtain, was founded in 2006 on the back of the Ostalgie phenomenon.
