Eglise notre-dame de Bruyères-et-Montbérault

The church, which shows the vitality of the medieval city of Bruyère, is a large composite monument, built in the 12th century. In the 14th and 15th centuries, two side chapels were added to the Romanesque transept, one on the north side and one on the south side. The latter were raised higher and the vaults are supported by a bold, unique column with notches (pillar and palm).
His Romanesque chevett, one of the most impressive in France, shows an exceptionally sculpted décor: vultures, sea dragons, lions, horse people, masks and other supernatural animals. Inside is a painting by Jean Jouvenet, "The Triumph of Mary", at the end of the 17th century.
