The Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene in the municipality of Bédoin is one of the oldest Romanesque chapels in the department of Vaucluse, if not the oldest, excluding partial or structural elements that have been incorporated into later interventions. The chapel is well known and often visited for some peculiar aspects: its architecture, with its characteristic and obsolete forms in the region; its very rare constructive and structural integrity; its history and mysterious origins still not completely revealed by the latest studies and excavations; the natural landscape of particular charm in which it is inserted and finally its testimony of a completely spontaneous Romanesque building, born on pre-existing Gallo-Roman buildings.
