This stone statue of Napoleon I was sculpted in 1974 by Georges Thurotte to commemorate the victory in Craonne of the French troops over the Russian and Prussian army of General Blücher on March 7, 1814.
This statue was built on the site of the mill of Vauclair which served as an observation post during this battle.
