The Basilica of San Giacomo is located in Bellagio, on Lake Como. It was built between the eleventh and twelfth centuries. When it was elevated to provostal parish in 1657, it was transformed both internally and externally in Baroque style, as it remained until the early decades of the twentieth century when it was renovated and brought back to its original style. It was declared a national monument by ministerial decree in 1904.
