"The Butterfly" Deil

The mill De Vlinder is a windmill built in 1913 along the Linge on the site of the burned-down seesaw mill. The mill is located in Deil at Appeldijk 4, in the Dutch province of Gelderland.De mill is a round brick grist mill of the type scaffolding mill with 2 pairs of grinding stones each with a diameter of 140 cm. One couple consists of so-called blue stones and the other couple of artificial stones. The blade shape is Old Dutch and the flight 20 meters. The flight is put on the wind with the help of a kruilier. The wooden roof of the mill, covered with roofing felt, has a so-called English crosswork. The Flemish catch is equipped with a catch sock. The top axle from 1855 is made of cast iron. The ash is lubricated with lard. The combs (teeth) on the wheels and pinion rods are treated with beeswax every year. The mill, which burned down in 1931, was restored in the same year and restored in 1967, 1975 and 2001/2002. In 1931 the current top axle was placed in the mill. In 1975 the blades were fitted with new steel rods. The mill is still used for grinding grain. The lifting (lifting) of the regrind is done with a tow latch.
