Tiel station is located in the Betuwe city of Tiel. The station is located on the Betuwe line. The station was opened on 1 November 1882, at the same time as the eastern part of the Betuwe line, from Elst to Geldermalsen. The western part was built via Gorinchem to Dordrecht.
The station design is also known as Standard Type Sneek. This design was used for the first time in Tiel and Gorinchem. Both stations were built in 1881, but Gorinchem station has been demolished.
