Cortenbach Castle is one of no less than five castles in Voerendaal. The castle is located northeast of Voerendaal and is not open to the public. Today it is a beautiful castle farm, of which the striking corner tower alone is worth a look. The atmosphere of yesteryear has remained here. The current castle is built from the remains of the original medieval castle.
The only remains of the castle include two round towers made from the local Kunrader stone, presumably the corner towers of the outer bailey. The current castle was built around 1713 as a mansion by the German merchant Herman Lamberts, who had been lord of Cortenbach since 1682. The beautiful entourage has been used as a filming location in the past, currently serves as a business location. The castle is a national monument.
