The Carlisle Area School District is a midsized, suburban, public school district that serves the boroughs of Carlisle and Mount Holly Springs and Dickinson Township and North Middleton Township in Cumberland County, Pennsylvania. Carlisle Area School District encompasses approximately 75 square miles (190 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it serves a resident population of 34,794. in 2009, the residents’ per capita income was $22,214, while the districts’ median family income was $52,276. In school year 2007-08 the Carlisle Area School District provided basic educational services to 4,729 pupils through the employment of 376 teachers, 295 full-time and part-time support personnel, and 36 administrators, according to school district officials. The Carlisle Area School District received more than $18.3 million in state funding in school year 2007-08.
