The Maries
Also known as two o'clock, Coralia and Maruxa Fandiño were two sisters who for years went every day to walk to the Alameda. Victims of the cruelty of life of women in post-war Spain, lived in a perpetual illusion of youth. Although initially there were three, the death of her sister Sarita did not disrupt the routine of the Two Marys, which continued out daily and nines. Skilled seamstresses, they inscribed their particular interpretation of the postwar fashion apparel that made them popular. They smiled mischievously at the compliments of the university and looked hard at the other women (they even ever came to pulling your hair to some).
Some photography shops in the city, as Tadel (in San Pedro de Mezonzo) preserve original images of this curious couple. These trips only stopped when one of them died in the early 80's, the other never left home and died a few months later.
