Fishing port

Fontán port, as the fishing port is known, is one of the most important points of Sada.
Its fame as a reference port for sardine catches and its leading role in the development of the town make it an amazing space for those who visit it.
Here you will find numerous artisanal and seiners fishing boats that catch sardines, mackerel and octopus, among other species. In As Delicias Beach you will see groups of shellfish gatherers picking clams, which is known as shellfishing gathering on foot. Here there is no shellfish gathering by boat.
To enjoy the harbour at its busiest, we advise that you visit in the morning. From 7 a.m., you can see the boats arriving from their fishing trips. We also recommend you take advantage and visit the fish market, where the traditional auction takes place some days between 6 a.m. and 2 p.m.
The fish market takes on a more significant role for the people of Sada every 16th July. Here high mass is held for the fiestas del Carmen, patron saint of sailors and who is venerated in a maritime procession.
