In the Marquesas city of Bergen op Zoom, old squares, narrow streets and quirky monuments tell you the story of a rich and eventful past. The city grew in the Middle Ages into a prosperous trading city that was often visited by merchants from all over Europe. The monumental buildings in the center form a unique backdrop for nice shops, cafes and atmospheric restaurants. More than 600 monuments are located in the compact city centre, of which more than two hundred are listed.
