L’Hérault [eʁɔ] est un fleuve côtier du sud de la France dans la région Occitanie, dans les départements du Gard et de l'Hérault, qui se jette dans la mer Méditerranée après un parcours de 147,6 km.L'Hérault prend sa source dans le Gard au mont Aigoual dans les Cévennes près de la station de sports d'hiver de Prat Peyrot. Il parcourt l'ouest du département du Gard puis traverse du nord au sud le département de l'Hérault auquel il donne son nom et se jette dans la mer Méditerranée à Agde, plus précisément au Grau d'Agde. En entaillant le Causse de la Selle, il forme les gorges de l'Hérault.
