Il museo, nato nel 1995 per volontà del parroco di Alzano, don Alberto Facchinetti, si prefigge lo scopo di mostrare sia alla popolazione locale che agli amanti dell'arte, la storia della comunità del paese con opere religiose quali dipinti, sculture e monili aurei, ma anche testi ed oggetti liturgici , appartenenti alla storia della basilica di San Martino che non avevano più una precisa collocazione tra gli arredi in uso.
