Het Centraal Station werd ontworpen door Pierre Cuypers (1876). Bij de bouw werd hij geïnspireerd door de late gotiek en de vroege Renaissance. De beelden in de gevel verwijzen naar handel en nijverheid in Amsterdam.
Aan de rechterkant van het Centraal Station (kijkend naar het station) kun je door het glas een blik werpen op de Koninklijke Wachtkamer.
Op het plevier het Centraal Station Amsterdam starten diverse wandelroutes. Waaronder het Pelgrimspad, Westerborkpad en FlorisV-pad.
