De Opera van Gent werd als decor gebruikt in de film ManZktVrouw. In deze film neemt de kunstzinnige Anne-Marie (Manuela Servais) de stugge Leopold (Jan Decleir) mee uit naar een voorstelling van de liederen van Robert Schumann in de Gentse opera. Ze zitten in de balzaal van de opera tussen meer dan honderd figuranten die allemaal in chique avondkledij gestoken zijn. De muziek wordt helemaal 'live' uitgevoerd door sopraan Hendrickje van Kerckhove en pianist Nicolas Callot.
