In Millen, a visit to the Water Castle is highly recommended, especially if you know there is also a cozy cyclists' café. As early as the 12th century, there was mention of a fortified dwelling tower on the site of the Water Castle in Millen, but the actual castle was not built until the 14th century. The current appearance was created after renovations in the 17th and 18th centuries. In the eastern part of the Water Castle, there is a cozy cyclists' café with a wide selection of drinks. The medieval inhabitants must have felt comfortable within the approximately 1.20-meter thick walls. Elsewhere on the site is the Euregional Visitor Center where you can get information about bike and car routes along fortified castles or their ruins. In the accompanying museum, you can learn about noble living in the 16th and 17th centuries. Next to the castle, the castle farm is still in operation. The farm was already mentioned in the 14th century. In its current form, it dates back to the 17th century, although there were significant renovations in the 19th century.
