De schitterende Gotische kerk Onze-Lieve-Vrouw in Pamele dateert uit de 13e eeuw, terwijl de Cisterciënzersabdij 'Maagdendale' zich vanaf de 13e eeuw ontwikkelde tot een van de voornaamste vrouwenabdijen in Vlaanderen.
