Grain meter house

First Cornmeter's House, from 1435 to 1540 guild house of the cornmeters. Single house of four bays and three building levels under a gabled roof (ridge perpendicular to the street, slate), from the first half of the 16th century, rebuilt in 1913 according to the design of architect Amandus Robert Janssens. Anchored stepped gable in traditional style constructed from brick and white natural stone. Plinth with bull's-eye windows as basement windows and basement door with stairs, covered by a water table. Cross windows with end blocks, lintel, and wedge-shaped relieving system. Parapets outlined by water tables and with decorated façade anchors. Rectangular door on raised ground floor, with a transom on consoles and a bull's-eye above the door; straight staircase of eight steps equipped with iron railings. Rear façade: brick gable with wall braidings. Extension at the back: small deep house of three building levels under a hipped roof (Flemish tiles), with a core presumably dating back to the 13th century but with later modifications (19th century). Only visible façade: anchored list façade partly of Tournai limestone and partly of brick with bricked-up arched windows on the upper floor. Wooden gutter.
