The St. Stefanus Church located in the Kampenhout district of Nederokkerzeel is a gem of Brabantine Gothic architecture. It was originally a 12th-century single-nave Romanesque church, built on a triangular plot called the Zes Linden. Centrally located within a walled cemetery, it acquired its contemporary appearance after various construction campaigns.
Constructed from white sandstone and red brick, with sandstone trim, window frames, and corner connections. The tower between the choir and transept has a Romanesque core. The once bricked-up choir windows have recently been refilled with colorful stained glass. The murals in the old sacristy have been restored.
A beautiful viewpoint over this church has been designed by Marc Denauw, a fellow resident of our municipality; definitely worth a visit.
