The Nature Education Center De Kaaihoeve, in the heart of the Bovenschelde valley. Because sustainable environmental policy is not only the concern of politicians and technicians, the Province of East Flanders established De Kaaihoeve as a meeting place to raise awareness among a broader audience about the environment. Support from the population is essential for a successful environmental policy. At De Kaaihoeve, extensive environmental documentation is available, there are programs for schools (from kindergarten to secondary education), and environmental initiatives are developed and supported. To help visitors learn more about the environment, 'family backpacks' and material boxes are available.
