Report by AVS regional news about the solemn inauguration moment of the "Kloosterbos" in Wachtebeke.
The design of the play forest is the result of a project by the Academy of Fine Arts in Ghent based on a concept by Serge Verwest with the children of primary, secondary, and higher education under the guidance of tutors Annique Mahieu, Vigdis De Cauter, and Els De Carne. "Design an artistically responsible picnic table along with a series of totem poles and signposts" was the assignment. The table was designed in the shape of a dragonfly, which symbolizes change. The dragonfly represents carrying capacity, the ability to carry itself and very strong elements. It stands as a symbol that nothing is what it seems.
