The oldest statutes of the hospital, which was presumably founded by Maria van Perwez, lady of Ninove, date back to 1268. At that time, it was a shelter for passersby and beggars. Since the old chapel could no longer be restored, a new church was built in the 18th century, completed in 1763. In 1775, a new hospital was also erected. However, these buildings were demolished shortly after World War II, so only the 18th-century chapel remains today. The façade of this chapel is classicist with a baroque influence. In a niche on the door frame, the statue of Saint Apollonia is prominently displayed.
