The Saint Peter's Church has various architectural styles: a Romanesque choir, Gothic transept, Baroque nave, and a Rococo facade. Originally, the chapel of St. Berlindis was supposed to be here, who died around 690 in Meerbeke. After it was destroyed in a Viking raid, a new church was built that was altered and expanded over time. The main facade, made of ledian sandstone, dates from 1760. The octagonal bell tower is from 1806-1807. There are several 18th-century statues in the church. Five large canvases from the Flemish school, dated around 1750, depict the life of Saint Berlindis. The Van Peteghem organ is from 1780. The church is one of the most important Baroque churches in Flanders.
