The Gerardsmolen is a grain mill in Wippelgem. This hill mill replaced an earlier post mill on the same site, where a grain mill had existed since 1645. The old mill was replaced in 1864 by miller Gerard Neyt, and from that moment on the mill was called Gerardsmolen. It is a chain girder mill that, until 1870, was assisted by a horse mill during times of calm. In 1870, the horse mill was replaced by a steam engine. The Gerardsmolen operated until around 1940 and then fell into disrepair. The municipality bought the mill in the 1960s. After the emergency cap of the mill was blown off in November 1982, it was restored. A restoration from 2002-2003 made the mill operational again. The mill is regularly in operation thanks to volunteers from the association "De Gerardsmolen."
