Located on the southern slopes of Mont Lozère, Pont-de-Montvert is crossed by the Tarn River, which rises in the hills above the town.
The charm of its granite houses and the natural pools formed by the Tarn make the village of Le Pont-de-Montvert the ideal place for a stopover or a stay. The village is at the crossroads of several hiking trails, and it's not uncommon to come across hikers accompanied by donkeys, cyclists and horseback riders. This haven of peace is an excellent destination to recharge your batteries and enjoy nature.
The village is famous for having been the starting point of the Camisard war on July 24, 1702, following the mass murder of Abbé Chaila, who had tortured Protestants for several years. One of the leaders of the revolt, the Camisard Esprit Seguier, was condemned to be burnt alive on the banks of the Tarn.
