El Teatre Lliure és un teatre de Barcelona considerat un dels més prestigiosos de Catalunya. Va ser creat el 1976, al barri de Gràcia, per un grup de professionals procedents del teatre independent barceloní, encapçalats per Fabià Puigserver, Pere Planella i Lluís Pasqual. Va destacar per apostar pel teatre de text en català, per la relectura dels clàssics i pel teatre contemporani. El Teatre Lliure no sols és un espai d’exhibició sinó que és una societat cooperativa que produeix muntatges propis, molts dels quals han estat exportats a d’altres ciutats europees i americanes. Des de bon començament, al Lliure han alternat el teatre, la música i la dansa.
