Hittbergen is located west of the Elbufer-Drawehn Nature Park in a landscape of Elbe marshes. The municipality belongs to the Samtgemeinde Scharnebeck, which has its administrative seat in the municipality of Scharnebeck.
Hittbergen, along with Barförde, is characterized by agricultural enterprises. The landmarks of this picturesque community are the church with the thousand-year-old oak in front of it and the mill.
