Sint-Katherina-Lombeek was largely forested until the end of the 18th century. This is still remembered by the name of the hamlet Den Bos. The largest forest was called Bosch van Overalphen, divided into the large Hertogenbosch and the small Affligembosch. At the end of the 20th century, the government reforested a small part of the Hertogenbos. It now bears the folk-etymological name Hertigembos, which originated from language contamination. By crossing a small bridge over the Vlaanderbeek, one enters the Liedekerkebos.
