The castle is located southeast of Vliermaal. It was built by the Du Vivier family in the early 19th century and rebuilt after a fire at the end of the 19th century. The year 1892 on the wind vane would refer to the year that, by marriage, it came into the possession of the De Ghelin family. François Julien Joseph Marie Fontaine de Ghelin rebuilt the castle in a style with elements from the neo-Flemish Renaissance style.
