The Font Màgica (Magic Fountain) is a colorfully lit terrace of fountains on the Avinguda de Maria Cristina in Barcelona, at the foot of the Montjuïc hill.
The Font Màgica was designed by the Catalan Carles Büigas for the Universal Exhibition (World's Fair) of 1929 that took place around Montjuïc, a hill by the sea in Barcelona. The central fountain was built to demonstrate what is possible with filtered light. Over time, the fountains fell into disrepair, but they were completely restored for the 1992 Olympic Games.
Today, the fountains are a tourist attraction, especially in the summer evenings when the fountains are beautifully illuminated. Music shows and dance demonstrations are also held, where the light is synchronized with the music.
