Here at the Merwedeplein lived the family of Anne Frank. As the threat of anti-Semitism increases the Frank family moved in 1933 from Frankfurt (Germany) to Amsterdam. They moved into the large house at Merwedeplein 37/2. The family lived here till they had to hide on July 6, 1942. The house is now as a shelter for foreign authors who can´t work freely in their own country.
